What You Can't Put in a Rental Bin
Tires, refrigerators, and paint cans are the top surprise-fee triggers. Here is the full prohibited list.
Every hauler has a prohibited-items list, but the categories are consistent across Canada:
Absolutely prohibited: tires (special recycling), propane tanks (pressurized), refrigerators & freezers (refrigerant), paint & solvents (HHW), asbestos, medical waste, and any container that held pesticides.
Accepted with restrictions: mattresses (extra fee in most provinces), electronics (better routed to e-waste programs), and pure concrete (needs a low-boy, not a regular bin).
When in doubt, ask before the bin arrives. Contamination fees run $75 to $250 per item.
