Concrete Disposal: Why You Need a Low-Boy

Driveway tear-outs and foundation debris are weight jobs. How clean concrete pricing works and what contaminates a load.

Concrete, brick, and asphalt are sold by weight, not by how full the bin looks. A standard roll-off filled with concrete will exceed legal axle limits long before it looks full — which is why haulers send low-boy or short-side containers rated for heavy material, often 10 yards or less.

Clean concrete (no rebar tangles, no garbage, no dirt mixed in) is cheaper to dispose of because it can be crushed and recycled. Contaminate it with wood, plastic, or household trash and you pay mixed C&D rates — sometimes several times more.

For a residential driveway tear-out, ask specifically for concrete disposal pricing and confirm whether rebar is accepted. If you also have dirt or mixed reno waste, keep a second bin or a junk haul for the light material so you do not ruin the clean concrete load.
